Namib Desert Challenge cancelled... It is a pitty... Let's move on and wait the next edition!

Tomorrow I have a 50 mi ultra in the mountains of Morungaba SP. A tough one...  The target remains the same: have fun and keep injury free. In order to achieve that my personal strategy is as follow: taking pictures along the route. I know I am going to have plenty of opportunities to do that tomorrow since the landscape there is quite unique.

After that, I am going to start planning to visit Namibia (again for the planing, not the visit), this time to visit the country. Of course I have plans to test gear in the famous red dunes of Sossusvlei.

Let's keep moving... running, walking, crawling, no matter what, but moving!!!

Finished, injury free, my second Comrades Marathon in South Africa.

http://comrades.runnersworld.co.za/2013-comrades-marathon-highlights/

Here's something interesting about it:

Here are 7 of our (many) memorable Comrades 2013 moments:
  • South African Claude Moshiywa won the 2013 Comrades, in a time of 05:32:09. He crossed the finish line a comfortable 9 minutes ahead of second placed Jonas Buud (Sweden).
  • Russian twin Elena Nurgalieva won her 8th Comrades Marathon. She is now just one win away from equaling Bruce Fordyce’s 9-win record.
  • Defending champion Ludwick Mamabolo finished in 4th place, after spending the last year fighting doping allegations from the 2012 race.
  • Charne Bosman was the first South African women across the line, in 5th place. She was just pipped at the finish line by Scottish runner, Joasia Zakrzewski.
  • Alan Robb ran his 40th consecutive Comrades Marathon. An inspiration to us all!
  • 14 336 out of 19 907 entrants started the race. Only 10 188 finished.
  • Around 7000 runners poured over the finish line in the last 90 minutes.

From now on the plan is to stay injury free and, as many as possible, run some ultras until 2014 February.

One more step toward the big event...

Diga Yuri...

Você me dá um auxílio? Sou seu vizinho de SP. Meu e-mail é [email protected]. Grande Abraço!!!!

Here are some activities I am going to be involved while waiting (and training, of course) for the Sahara Race:

June, 2nd - Comrades Marathon (the UP run)

October, 28 to November 1st - Namib Desert Challenge

The last one (Namib Challenge) is particularly interesting since it has a similar format of Sahara Race. However, one don't need to carry all the gear and stuff along the route (just essentials). At least for me, this is going to be a good opportunity to get some experience in the desert.

Get interested? Check it out here: http://www.namibdesertchallenge.com/

See you all guys!!!

My name is in the competitors list...YEAH!!! amazing feeling... scary...
I could never imagine that a race like Comrades, I am going to run in June 2nd, would be part of my preparation to another race.

From now on, the new rule is: keep fit, keep injury free, no matter what!!!
Run slow and safe in order to run forever!!!

Here is my check list:

I am sure I am going to learn a lot... suffer a lot... have fun... well... let's see then!
